What a perfect name for our WA troupe as they continue a dramatic journey to perform a worldwide selection of plays and musicals for our enjoyment. Move over, Alliance Theater! Trotamundo has taken the school performance world by storm!

The Wood Acres’ 2011 production of Music Man, Jr. was received to critical acclaim and was performed in front of a sold out house! You don’t get more critical than their peers, and the peers gave it “two thumbs up.” Students who were unsure of their “hidden talents” soared and had a wonderful time.

Our 2012 production will be Once on This Island, Jr. With its touching story and catchy Caribbean flavored score, Once on This Island, Jr. is a feast for the heart, mind, and soul. The original and theatrical Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale The Little Mermaid garnered eight Tony nominations for its Broadway run, including Best Musical, Book and Score.

Fourth through Eighth graders are invited to audition for the 2011 - 2012 production.

Selected thespians from Trotamundo recently participated and performed in the annual Broadway Musical Jr. FestivDl and Workshop held in Atlanta. Wood Acres students excelled in their performances and Neeahtima dowdy, Trotamundo’s Director, was tapped to receive one of only a few Director awards, inviting her to attend a renown directorial training workship in NYC this summer. Bravo!
